How about a blog about something that’s been annoying me?

Bike riders wearing helmets that aren’t done up.

Oh my god! I’ve seen ten this week. Why bother? If you crash, it’s just going to fly off. You  may as well do it up.

The only reason I can think of why people don’t wear helmets is because they think they look bad (which they don’t). If you’ve got it on, perhaps you don’t want to be caught by the police without one? What is the difference (lookwise) of it being on, if it’s not done up? Stupidity *sigh*

My dad’s a cyclist. He used to be a professional triathlete, actually, but got a little old for it :p. For a fair few years after that he was a triathlon official (noteably at Sydney Olympics, and was only person from southern hemisphere invited to be one in Athens -but didn’t go) but now he’s not. So I know a lot about cycling, and safety. I was trained from a young age on that kind of stuff (though slow old me didn’t pick up how to properly ride a bike until I was 7).

Next, I want to learn to ride one of these:

Though the whole no brakes thing will scare me to death, I’m sure.

  1. Yeah, I keep my helmet buckled, though it does sometimes choke me.
One of the teeth holding the visor in place snapped off some time ago, so I have to keep the helmet angled down, else the visor would flip up and fly off.

I should probably get a new one, hmm.

  2. 2 Aymes

I see a lot of kids doing that around Dad’s work. I wonder if they like the sight of the chin straps flying around in thier wake?
