Ch-ch-changes…

I want to overhaul my life, and particularly my wardrobe.

I’m not happy with the clothes I have. My top collection consists of  winter-weight long sleeved items, singlets I don’t feel comfortable wearing by themselves (the centimetre plus wide bra straps (in white, no less) don’t make for an attractive accessory for a strappy singlet), and ill-fitting tshirts.

I’m a fan of layering plain things together. I went on a Target trip the other day, but it seems like none of their basics are aimed at someone like me. The problem of living in Adelaide is that we have a proliferation of cheap chain stores that seem to make the same clothes as all the others. I can get a few nice winter stuff from Cotton On, but again, summer is left without clothes I neither like nor want.

There are two stores that do stock clothing I like, namely Dangerfield and American Apparel, but their clothing is fairly pricey for someone who earns $14 an hour at a casual job. Dangerfield also has the sad problem that, whilst they do go up to an australian size fourteen (my size), their size is on the smaller end of a fourteen, and sometimes fits too tightly over my bust, particularly in their pretty, pretty dresses. They have gorgeous tshirts too.

I don’t know of any good thift/op shops, and I can never find nice things in my size there anyway.

Therefore, I shall just sit here and pray for the clothing fairy to grant my wish of some amazing, affordable clothes.

Fi: Harry Potter. I could be living in a castle made of gold right now, if only I’d thought of Hogwarts before J.K Rowling (and not been, what, seven, at the time she wrote it)

Rhys: Any Stephen King book, though if I had to pick just one, I’d have to say The Stand, brilliant novel that one.

What’s the most delicious meal you’ve ever had?

Fi: Nonya chicken curry, made by my dad.

Rhys: The ravioli Fi cooked for me last night, when I got home from work. Om nom nom.

Hmm, dinner with Obama. According to those crappy magazines they have in the staffroom at work, Courtney Love is pretty incoherent lately. Also, she might hit me or something.

This is from a lovely seller called Mishmash Designs, and I’ve bought several pouches from here in the past, including this one. They’re all beautiful and so very useful. I’m tempted to buy one of her wallets or bags, because I’m sure they’ll be of the same quality of the pouches. She sells out of Melbourne, and the shipping to SA is pretty fast.

Love & Loathe

Love

1. My Moleskine planner bought for me by the lovely Jess.
2. Getting into my course, and planning all my classes! I’m thinking a bit of anthropology, a bit of gender studies, maybe some english, maybe some philosophy….
3. Being home alone for the next two weeks. Last night I had Crunchy Nut cereal for dinner! (came home late from work, felt really lazy)
4. Pouches! I bought a couple from an Etsy seller called MishMashDesigns, and they are so handy! No more digging through my purse!
5. Stingose! I was at a party on Friday night, and despite wearing rather thick black stockings, I got bitten by no less than 24 mosquitoes (okay, maybe some of them bit me more than once, but I just counted the bites). My legs itch like CRAZY still. Stingose, while not numbing enough for me to forget that they’re there, helps a lot.
6. Charmed! Season three so far is awesome!

Loathe

1. Mosquitoes! When I become filthy rich (pfft), I shall commission scientists to work out a way to rid the world of mosquitoes without messing up the food chain.
2. Not really being in the mood to post, and not watching any movies to post for my Sunday Night Movie last week.
3. People on the ProActiv ad saying that it was their last hope. What, bleach and harsh chemicals were your last hope? After what, trying all the supermarket products? Listen, before bleaching your face, try the cleansers and toners available from natural companies. I may sound like a broken record, but my skin was never helped by store brands, and was almost instantly improved by the products from Lush. Why? Because your skin isn’t made to have chemicals slathered over it.

Questions

1. Why can’t cute patterned bras be made in larger sizes? Or even just colours other than white, beige and black? I’m a 14E, and I have never seen a pretty bra that would fit me. I hate you, bra manufacturers.
2. Why do Paramount have those language selection things at the beginning that you have to select from before getting to the menu, and THEN have language as an option in the menu. Make up your mind, kids.
3. Why is Charmed twice as awesome in Italian? I have no idea what they’re saying, but they sound awesome.
4. Why is it so hard to find tshirts without capped sleeves? I just want a standard black tshirt that doesn’t make my arms look weird.
5. Why couldn’t I have had Daddy Likey’s book Closet Confidential earlier? So many bad fashion choices could have been avoided! I rule that all girls should recieve this book on their 13th birthday.
