A thought or three. Or more!
Do you know what I find absolutely ridiculous? People opposing every little thing done by the government that is not the very basics, because “MY TAX DOLLARS ARE GOING TO THAT”. Uhhh, no.
Take the Australian government, for example. When the prime minister spends $200,000 on an advisor (which are not a waste of money, thank you very much), that is not your tax dollars. Let’s assume that out of the 20 million Australians, eight million are paying tax. A rough estimate, but I’m taking into account children and retirees. Eight million divided by two hundred thousand? That’s 0.025 of a dollar. OH NO! You pay thousands of dollars tax a year. Get over it.
This little rant was inspired by a commenter on feministing who said “Why should I have to pay for women to have elective procedures such as abortion?”. She then went on to compare an abortion to a boob job.
GAH. Abortions, whilst sometimes, yes, a choice, are not as frivilous as a boob job. Does a boob job result in an infant? Not directly. Do you have to feed, clothe, change, educate, entertain, fund, and raise a boob job? No.
Abortions are also not always a choice. Heard of an ecotopic(sp?) pregnancy? There are many cases where the baby will not survive outside of the womb, and is physically harming the woman by remaining inside of her. And hey, that Stupak amendment doesn’t take consideration of that.
Despite me being proud of America for growing up and getting a real healthcare system, I hope the bill is blocked in the Senate.
Geez, why couldn’t they look at, oh, other functioning countries’ health systems? Australia’s medicare? Britain and France’s… whatever they call it? I know if I chose/had to have an abortion, I would not have to pay a cent. If I chose to have it in a private hospital? I’d have to pay for the bed, yes, but not much else. I also have private health insurance under my mother, so I’d be pretty safe there, too.
I’m glad that if a woman in my country from a lower socio-economic situation than I needed an abortion, they too, would get it.
But there’s the thing. The American Government, they don’t get it.

Again! I’m sorry, it’s just I have a billion tabs open that I must share!
- The health care bill in America was passed, which is great. But I have a little problem with what was sacrificed in order to get it passed.
- Anyone who believes that people in psychiatric prisons do not deserve ‘the latest in psychiatric care’ should be neutered. Then whacked over the head a few times.
- It is the Glamourous Grad Student’s blog birthday (real one too!), and she linked to some of her favourite posts. I particularly like “Things Every Woman Should Know” and “Anatomy of the Perfect Pair of Heels“
- People get a little obsessive over Helvetica. But could they pick it out of a line up? I got 16/20 first try.
- Sarah Von’s Love Letter To New Zealand makes me want to move there. Right now.
- Huge Hits (You Didn’t Know Were Covers). Wow. I wouldn’t have picked Respect being sung by a man. Ever.

Things I love…. Friday.
Third list post in a row, eek. Hope I’m not annoying anyone with these! Never one to stick to a set formula (hell, actually, during exams, I only know what day of the week it is if I have an exam on that day)
- Scary exams being a trillion times easier than I first thought. English Studies is meant to be awful, was better than thought (I only screwed up 30% of it, and I’ll still get half of that – i.e only lost five percent of my total grade =D). Legal Studies looked scary when I looked at past exams – was not, at all!
- Placing my first item on ebay. tis here, and the photos are disturbingly bad. It’s… actually a nice green colour. But, you can see, like, the general shape.
- V. I only discovered its merits halfway through the year, and I know each drink takes a month off my life, but oh my! This is how I passed year 12! I prefer the massive cans – last me a day or two.
- Getting packages in the mail! At the moment I’m recieving one a day! That will trinkle off, but oh! the joy!
Things I don’t love:
- My feet are overheating right now. I hate that.
- Not getting paid! I’ve taken time off work for exams, so no money for Fi :(

- The really scary part of this is that this is not a troll. A woman actually named her twins that. Proof via STFU Parents. Second link NSFW, actually, not suitable if you’ve eaten recently…
- PhDork from The Pursuit of Harpyness illustrates the importance of the Oxford comma.
- Regretsy might just be my new favourite site.
- I will now always wonder when I see this kind of bathroom graffiti, because of this cartoon.
- More Magic Always shares an bit of her NaNoWriMo novel!
- Faced with a letter where a woman worries about her insane co-worker, Jezebel asks dead people.
- Not Always Right has a book! You know, my birthday’s coming up…
- On that note, so does Daddy Likey. Looks like an amazing book
So much good stuff found this time! This is only the tip of all the cool stuff I’ve read recently.

A simple prop to occupy my time.
I’ve been thinking.
Mostly about the girl-blogger world, and how I don’t think I fit in. And how I’m okay with that.
- I really don’t like cupcakes. I do, however, like Cupcakes and Mace, and Lick My Cupcakes.
- I don’t own enough nice clothes to take fashion shots of myself. I have no idea how to do so, actually. Also, my camera is terrible. That said, it will be dragged out when I recieve my Scarecrow pendant. I’m planning to take a stuff I bought online shoot, wearing all the necklaces, holding my DVDs and game. The books are heavy though, so I’ll have to work out a little beforehand. I’ll try and get Rhys to be cameraman.
- I don’t shop at op shops. I would, if I knew where they were in my city.
- I’m not particularly creative. I’m never going to have an Etsy store, because I can’t make anything anyone would want to buy. That said, in a few weeks I’m going to sell some pretty dresses that don’t fit me at all on eBay. Size 12 girls, keep an ear out!
- I get about 5 – 20 hits a day. If I had a ‘real’ website, I’m pretty sure I’d never make any money of the ads. Don’t they pay by the thousand?
- I could never do one of those funny posts where the blogger tries to help those who found them on Google under strange search terms. Why? Because of my titles, EVERY search term is song lyrics. Or, thanks to a post once, cartoons from the nineties.
- I don’t post often enough. Seriously, the sometimes month long gaps must piss off people with RSS readers.
- I don’t really have a following :p
- I don’t have any regular posts or a base topic.
But I am happy to keep on blogging, because it pleases me. Sometimes I wish I had more in common with the lovely blogs I read, but I don’t, and that’s okay. I’m blogging for me.

A week or so ago, I got the ghost necklace from Cupcakes and Mace I showed you guys a couple of posts ago.
IT
IS
AMAZING

I’ve been wearing it every day since, and I think I’m going to name him Henry. If you read the comments, you may have noticed that there was a slight mix up in colours, but it all worked out awesomely!
The frosted white ghost is about ten times better than the opaque ghost could ever be!
I would post a picture of me wearing it, but seriously. It is SWOTVAC week, and thus, I look like utter crap. Also, my camera? Utter crap.
To vaguely celebrate halloween in a country that ignores the date, I wore it this weekend with my Casper the Friendly Ghost tshirt. Whee!
Kids, seriously. Go get an Etsy + Paypal account, and give her some of your pocket money! You don’t even have to get a ghostie, BUT WHY WOULDN’T YOU? WHAT, ARE YOU HEARTLESS? IT’S AN ADORABLE GHOSTIE IN NEED OF A HOME! *ahem*, she has other cool stuff.
Like Helvetica necklaces:

And T Rex!

Oh, if I were paid more!

Haven’t done one of these in… oh god, I don’t know how long.
- You DID WHAT? Another gem from STFU Parents. As a supermarket employee, I want to find these two women and kill them. That, or neuter. Read the comments, do.
- I am a terrible person for laughing viaWhat Tumblr? NO WAI!
- I’m pretty sure this is from Dawson’s Creek, because I watched the episode the other day, my I’m sad.

I toss and turn over nothing.
So, it’s over.
Well, not really. I’ve graduated and all, I have certificate someone whipped up in 30 seconds on Publisher, and I have no more lessons.
However, I still have one more assignment to hand up, and oh, four exams worth 30-40% of my grade. The first one is the scariest – only worth 30, but anyone who knows English Studies knows it’ll be a bitch. I’m quite happy with my end of term three grades – A, B, B, B, C. I’ll do okay.
I had a depressing search for jeans on Friday. I’ve gained a couple of kilos over the last couple of months, and such, my stupid Just Jeans jeans no longer fit. I’m not really a fan of their jeans anyway, so I didn’t want to look there. Mum suggested Trims. We gave it a try, I hated the style of the Levi jeans (bootcut too loose on the thigh, straight leg made my thighs look HUGE. Then mother and the saleslady suggested going to the RM Williams part of the store BAD IDEA. The size fourteen was too tight, the size 16 ridiculously loose. Gah.
Tried Dangerfield. Their sizes are smaller in the first place, and they don’t go above 14. Caaaarrrraaaaaap.
Last resort, Target. Only way this place is an acceptable shopping destination is if you pronounce it as if it were a French word.
Oh my! The jeans! So many actually attractive styles, the FOURTEEN FITS ME, LOOSELY (YAY SELF ESTEEM RESTORED), and hells cheap. One pair, awesomely called boyfriend jeans and incredibly round-the-house-maybe-to-the-shops comfortable, was reduced to $8! I also got a bootcut for $40, but was seriously considering the Shape Your Body range, which make my humungthighs look small, and hold in my liddle tummy, without looking like pants for 60 year olds. But there’s always next time.
Unfortunately, I could not find any short lengths of the styles I chose, so I shall have to get them altered. Indication of how little I loved the JJ ones – were never altered, always just rolled up a little,
Dear Australian Clothing Companies.
Please get together and decide on sizes. Small, Medium and Large are not sizes unless you bother making sure every store is the same. Oh, and please make my size fourteen, because there’s nothing scarier to me than the big 1-6.
Dear Bra Companies
I have lost all hope for you guys ever doing the above. You suck.
Dear Elle Macpherson
You have super pretty bras, but girls with larger boobs cannot wear that much lace under their clothes without looking like they have scaly chests. I know you intend these bras not to be worn with clothes, but make some pretty less lacey ones :)
Dear people who set the SACE English Studies Exam.
Why must you be so cruel?
